We are looking for a Head of Procurement who possesses a combination of appropriate professional experience in procurement with highly developed stakeholder management skills.  Crucial to the role is team management - the ability to work effectively with a team to implement change.

This is a new role in the union, the main purpose of which is to consolidate and clarify existing procurement, purchasing and expenses policies, and to lead on the organisation’s operational procurement processes.  The role is key in overseeing the tendering process for major projects with specific focus on facilities, systems and construction projects, ensuring value for money is obtained.

The job is being advertised internally and externally and individuals who can meet the requirements set out are invited to apply.

We strive to be an ethnically diverse organisation.  Applications for this role are encouraged from people who are under-represented in the union.  We actively encourage Black and Asian people, women, disabled people and LGBT+ people to apply.

Interested applicants are invited to apply by clicking on the green “Apply Now” button.  A copy of the Job Description and Person Specification can be found in the documents section.

For any queries, please email recruitment@unitetheunion.org.

Unite reserves the right to withdraw this role at any time.

Please be advised that the successful candidate may be required to undertake a DBS check as part of their pre-employment checks dependent on the nature of the role.

HR, Training & Development Department

Unite is the union for the 21st century, meeting the greatest challenges facing working people today. It is a democratic and campaigning union, which fights back for employees in the workplace, protects workers' rights and takes trade unionism out to millions of unorganised workers.

It is a union that stands up for equality and advances members' interests on a political and national level. Unite is also active on a global scale building ever stronger links with trade unions around the world to confront the challenges of our globalised economy.

Sharon Graham
Unite General Secretary

It is a great privilege to be elected as your General Secretary, on a clear mandate for positive change.

Unite members face a critical time. Many employers are emboldened, tactics such as "Fire and Rehire" are becoming increasingly common, jobs are under threat and pay rates are under attack.

I have been elected to do what it says on the trade union tin - fight for jobs, pay and conditions. Now is the time to build strong, effective trade unionism at every workplace.

The pledges made in my election manifesto will be delivered. The task of delivering on that begins immediately.
